The short version: The Heart You Keep BP Journal keeps everything you enter on your own phone. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or have access to any of your information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.
This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application The Heart You Keep BP Journal (the "App"), published by CRW Cardio Consulting LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), handles your information. It also applies to our app The Heart You Keep, which handles your information the same way. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
None. We do not collect any personal or health information from you. The App has no user accounts and no server. Everything you enter is stored only in the App's own storage on your phone. That includes your blood pressure readings and pulse, blood sugars, the medicines you list and the doses you tick off (with the time of each), what you write in How I Feel, your doctor's plan as you typed it, your care team's names and numbers, appointments, photos, your name, your allergies, and any other entries. It never leaves your phone except by an action you take yourself (see "Sharing," below).
2. Health information
The health information you record is deeply personal, and we designed the App so that we never see it. It is not sent to us, to any cloud service, or to any third party. We hold no copy of it and cannot retrieve, view, or restore it. Because the data lives on your phone, protecting your phone (a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and device encryption) is the main way your information stays private.
3. No analytics, tracking, or advertising
The App contains no analytics tools, no advertising, no marketing trackers, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs) that gather data about you. We do not use cookies or device identifiers to profile you, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
Nothing is loaded from the internet. Every word, picture, and font in the App comes from your own phone, and the App contacts no outside service, so no one learns that you opened it or when. The tools the App uses to draw your graphs and make a PDF are built into the App and run on your phone.
Your information is never sold or licensed, to anyone, for any purpose. We do not have it to sell.
Apple collects its own information through the App Store and TestFlight, under Apple's own policies. We do not control that and cannot see it.
4. Notifications
If you turn on medicine or blood pressure check reminders, those notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your phone. Their content is not sent to us or to any server.
5. Sharing information, only when you choose
The App has features that let you share your own information: the summary for your doctor (as text or as a PDF with your graphs), an encrypted backup file, and a spreadsheet of your readings. When you use one, your phone's standard share options (for example, Messages, Mail, or AirDrop) handle it, and it goes only where you send it. We are not involved in those transfers and have no access to them. Anything you share this way may be kept by the service or person you send it to, outside our control.
A few specifics worth knowing:
- The PDF. When you share your summary as a PDF, the App makes the file on your phone, hands it to your phone's share options, and then deletes its own copy. Wherever you send or save it keeps a readable copy.
- The spreadsheet. The spreadsheet of your readings is not password protected. The App asks you to confirm before it makes one.
- The clipboard. If your phone shows "Copy" instead of "Share with doctor," tapping it places your summary on your phone's clipboard so you can paste it where you want. Other apps on your phone may be able to read the clipboard, and if your Apple devices share a clipboard, it can also appear on your Mac or iPad. This is a function of your phone, not of the App.
- The encrypted backup. When you make an encrypted backup, the file is protected by a password you choose. We never receive that password or the file, and no one, including us, can unlock or recover it for you if the password is lost.
- Calls and outside links. The App can open your phone's dialer, for example to call your own doctor, a support line, or 911, and it can open outside websites, such as the support organizations it lists. Those calls and websites are handled by your phone and by organizations we do not control, and they follow their own terms and privacy practices, not this Policy.
- Your phone's own backup. If you back up your phone to iCloud or to a computer, that backup includes the App's information along with your other apps' data. This is your phone's and your Apple account's setting, not something the App does, and we have no access to it. You can turn backup off for one app in your phone's Settings. If you do, your phone becomes the only place your information exists, so make your own encrypted backup in the App. We mention this because the App keeps your information on your phone, and we do not want that to be read as a promise that no copy can exist anywhere else.
6. Keeping and deleting your information
Because your information is stored only on your phone, you are in full control of it. It is kept until you delete it. You can delete all of it at any time in the App: tap the gear at the top of the screen, then "Delete All My Data" in Settings & About. Deleting the App from your phone also removes its information. We keep nothing, because we never receive anything.
7. Children
The App is meant for adults managing their own health and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone (and, as noted, we do not collect information at all).
8. Security
Your information never travels to us, which removes the risks that come with servers and sending data. The information on your phone is protected by your phone's own security. We recommend a phone passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and full-device encryption, along with the App's optional PIN.
The App's PIN is a screen lock, not encryption. It keeps the App's contents out of view, while the information itself is protected by your phone's own encryption. If you forget the PIN, no one can recover or reset it, including us. The only way back into the App is to erase its data and start again.
Who else can see it. Because your information lives on your phone, anyone with access to your unlocked phone may be able to see it, and in some situations information on a personal phone can be requested through legal processes. If your personal safety is a concern, think about who has access to your phone, use the App's optional PIN, and remember that "Delete All My Data" is there at any time.
9. Not medical advice
The App is a personal health journal with educational information from published clinical guidelines. It does not give medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship. Always follow your own care team's instructions. In an emergency, call 911.
HIPAA does not apply to the App. HIPAA, the US health privacy law, covers doctors, hospitals, health plans, and the companies that work for them. It does not apply here, because the App keeps your information on your own phone and we never receive it. Using the App does not make us part of your health care, and what you keep in it is not part of your medical record unless you choose to share it with your care team.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above, and any important change will be shown on this page.
One promise does not change by editing this page. The App collects nothing today, and we will not begin collecting, sending, or receiving your information through a change to this Policy. If we ever offer a feature that shares data with us, it would be a separate, clearly described choice that you actively turn on, and saying no would leave the App working exactly as it does now.
